Happy Christmas to all my subscribers
I'm switching off now, may the cheese eating commence!
I just wanted to wish all my subscribers a really lovely Christmas. In spite of the fact that my most recent post about Walliams has gone super-viral, I’m switching off now for a week’s break and to focus on family, and I hope you are too!
I still haven’t made that Potato Wreath by the way! Maybe today is the day. 🥔
Enjoy your festive season, and thank you all for being here and supporting me this year. It’s really appreciated!
Here’s a picture I took out recently on the Somerset Levels. Think of it as an alternative Christmas card!
And here’s a Solstice poem for you…
The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper
So the shortest day came, and the year died,
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive,
And when the new year’s sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us—Listen!!
All the long echoes sing the same delight,
This shortest day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, feast, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
Welcome Yule!
Have a wonderful holiday, love Milli xxx
