Ever heard of a protection racket?

The way it goes is this: break the windows of a few businesses, and then go in to the rest of the businesses in the neighbourhood and tell them you can make sure their windows will remain intact. For a small fee.

Except, in this post I’m not talking about the mafia, or a shady gangster.

I’m talking about this woman, Ami Silver, who calls herself AJ Silver and trades under the name of the Queer Birth Club - although this business is not listed with Companies House.

As long ago as 2020, I was watching, slightly aghast, as the Queer Birth Club (QBC) went to work on the small but lucrative world of doulas, hypnobirthing teachers and breastfeeding counsellors.

Ami Silver doesn’t break windows, she breaks people, and creates a climate of fear in which the best possible option is to buy her training course to demonstrate your purity and gain immunity from harm.

The QBC have absolutely cleaned up in the world of maternity with this protection racket, and you may or may not be surprised to know that I wasn’t the first woman Ami instigated the destruction of in order to terrify people into going on their pile it high, sell it cheap zoom courses.

Zoom courses that they have now sold to NHS midwives, the NCT, The Positive Birth Company, Birthrights, The Practicing Midwife and Maternity Voice Partnerships (MVPs).

Last week, a small story about this finally made it into the press.

But let me tell you a few more details.
