The Word is Woman #32
Documenting the erasure of women from language and life.
Welcome to the Issue #32 of The Word is Woman, a weekly section of my substack where I document examples of the erasure of women from both language and public life.
For the past three years, ever since I spoke out about language changes in maternity such as ‘birthing people’, I have been sent hundreds of examples of convolutions of language in which the word woman is erased and replaced in the name of so-called ‘inclusivity’. Uterus owners, menstruators, non-men, bleeders, birthers, and even bodies with vaginas…the list of names we have been called and continue to be called is a seemingly endless catalogue of offence.
At the same time, we are seeing male people taking the place of women on sporting podiums and in public roles, and also being applauded as the ‘first woman’ to achieve a certain award or accomplishment, or the ‘best female’ or ‘woman of the year’ in their field.
The Word is Woman is a place to keep track.
So here is this week’s The Word is Woman for the week ending 12th April 2024.
This week the publication in the UK of the Cass report has made it crystal clear that, if you’re still mindlessly promoting gender ideology, with its nonsense ideas like ‘there’s no such thing as biological sex’ or its Orwellian changes to language like, ‘not all pregnant people are women’, then you’re part of the problem. You’re part of a quasi-religious science-denying cult that has gripped the modern world and led to the biggest medical scandal of modern times, perhaps ever. And the victims are mostly female, and mostly children.
So there’s no funny gifs in this week’s The Word is Woman, just a hall of shame of those birth, breastfeeding and women’s health organisations who are supposed to serve women but are instead participating in a full scale crime against them - propping up an ideology that sees teen girls taking irreversible drugs and removing body parts that could one day make them mothers or allow them the privilege of nursing their babies.
First up, it’s the Vaginismus Network.
If you’ve not heard of vaginismus, it’s a tightening up of the vaginal muscles during sex. And it doesn’t affect ‘people’. It affects women, and women only.
But the Vaginismus Network have erased us, even to the extent that they are prepared to mess around with their stats, rather than mention the W word.
Is it accurate to say that it affects ‘2 in 1000 people’? Because 2 in 1000 people is 1 in 500 women. So what do they mean? They don’t care. They just want to signal to you that they are fully behind the permanent medicalisation of distressed children, presumably.
Next up, serial offenders La Leche League who have long since thrown women under the bus, betraying their roots and their purpose in their desire to let you know they fully affirm males who want to induce ‘chestmilk’ or young girls who hate their female bodies.
This clown wants to improve women’s sex lives but is prepared to call them ‘someone with a vulva’, just in case the fans of child sterilisation should accuse her of a lack of inclusivity.
Next in the hall of shame is the BBC who, it pains me to say it, have 100% failed us with their coverage of the current medical scandal, and clearly have someone / several people in high places there who have a vested interest in maintaining ‘gender healthcare’. Here they erase women from the narrative of abortion.
Reproductive rights in America seems to attract groups that are keen to erase the reality of sex, in spite of their entire raison d’etre being the control of the female body under patriarchy. Link.
Hmm, why do ‘people’ forfeit their rights when they’re pregnant, I wonder?
Aussie pad company Libra are merrily erasing women from menstruation over on their facebook page - I guess if you take the puberty blockers, you won’t be needing their products.
Another period company, Days for Girls, sent out an email about how they were founded, and it seems like, in the interim, they’ve grown a little worried about whether ‘girls’ is a dirty word.
Mind in Salford illustrated the knots you can tie yourself up in when you mess around with language only too well this week, telling us that they’re running a menopause group that’s open to ‘trans women’. We can only assume this is a mistake and they meant trans men, although having said that, it can’t be ruled out that they’re happy to include a few middle aged AGPs who want to complain to someone about how much their wigs itch.
Of course, they’ve updated it now, but they still can’t say ‘women’ - it’s ‘attendees who are experiencing menopause’.
Changing the meaning of the word ‘woman’ from a descriptor of sex to an identity is what we’re all about here at The Word is Woman, and this week ALCS (who are actually a really brilliant organisation who collect funds when books and articles are photocopied) sent out a survey to writers and authors that illustrated this perfectly.
And finally, over on LinkedIn, another pad company, Natracare, have completely erased women from this post about how they are supporting ‘people who menstruate in Ukraine’.
It takes some effort to write this much copy without mentioning the class of ‘people’ it’s about.
I don’t usually take a hard line in life but today, as I put this together, I really do feel angry with this catalogue of organisations, week after week, who are giving 100% credence to the same ideology that is causing so much distress and irreversible damage to children and families. It’s not about inclusivity, if it were, they’d be working just as hard to make sure they included disabled people, or people with low literacy, or any other marginalised group. What motivates these companies and organisations to erase women in this way is fear, fear that they will lose revenue if the trans activists come after them. And they do come after them! I know this because they tell me. Women who don’t toe the line get messages sent to them asking why they are not using ‘inclusive language’. And the messages are Mafia style, basically: “Nice windows you’ve got there, it would be shame if anything happened to them.” OK so I said no gifs but let’s have one, it’s Friday.
So it’s a protection racket.
All of these companies are scared of what might happen to them if they don’t conform.
Even though they must know it’s wrong.
Even though it’s 100% clear that it’s wrong.
So it’s time for it to stop.
By all means treat everyone you meet with respect.
But stop erasing women and pretending sex isn’t real, because in doing so you’re supporting the biggest failure of child protection imaginable. No more excuses.
Just stop.
I could not keep painstakingly documenting this erasure without the support of paid subscribers. If you are one, thank you! If not, please consider signing up, you’ll get all kind of marvellous perks and my eternal gratitude. If you can’t afford it, please do take out a free sub so you never miss a post.
Fabulous Milli. I love it that we’ve got to the stage of saying, “Just stop it”. We’ve spent so long saying, “Please”, “Do you think you could just….“ , “Umm, could we just mention….”, “If you would listen, we do have some evidence….”
Just stop it. That sounds good.
God ,Milli ,my blood pressure must be sky high reading this. I can barely contain my anger at these woman erasing cowards who by their virtue signalling idiocy are actually supporting the castration , sterilisation and mutilation of vulnerable children and young adults !! What on earth will it take for them to see how wrong this is ,and grow a backbone ??. Thanks ,Milli x👍👏🙏
