What is a woman of the year?
As the BBC announces '100 Women', why are we making this complicated?
Today the BBC announced its list of this year’s ‘100 Women’ and to nobody’s surprise there was one male person on the list, Nepalese activist Rukshana Kapali. This has come to be expected - last year there were two, and there were two in 2021. I don’t really want to share pictures of the various males who’ve made the list or particularly focus on them. Instead I want to talk about how it’s blindingly obvious why we have ‘women only’ lists and how including male people on those lists defeats the object.
