Sex IS real and I am proud of you for standing up for reality and for hard-win Womens rights.
I am a consultant obstetrician and a feminist and I absolutely LOVED your book.
I think that sadly, no matter how much a woman wishes to achieve a normal birth, unfortunately this is not always possible and sometimes trying too hard for a normal birth can put the baby at risk as we have seen from recent high profile scandals ( barrow in Furness and Morecambe bay maternity units).
I think you would enjoy the FILIA conference should speak at it!
Thank you for being such an inspiration! Good luck with finishing off your book. You have a whole host of supportive women behind you, cheering you on.
Thank you Caolin, what a wonderful encouraging comment!
I agree normal / physiogical birth is not always possible, especially as we continue to place women in unnatural environments that do not support their physiology!
I would love this to change but it keeps getting worse unfortunately!
In the meantime, I BLOODY LOVE FILIA! I will be there in Glasgow and I spoke at the last 2, once on a panel about publishing, and once about birth.
Ironically, I also spoke at Filia several years ago about childbirth, with a panel of women two of whom were key in chucking me under the bus! I guess they weren't as feminist as all that!
Lovely to connect with you anyway. See you in Glasgow? Milli x
I am booked in! Hoping to bring my 17 year old daughter along too. I will definitely come to hear you speak if you do. I think that your writing is fabulous!!! Xxx
Milli Hill- you are a super star!
