Also have a birthday girl in my house but I hope to make at least some of the evening.

Birth chat with women always holds my interest. I'll have a festive drink at the ready whatever the format 🍸

Thanks Milli

It probably won't help to say 'I don't mind...' but I'm up for majority vote - As a retired midwife I always welcome birth talk - I am also happy to offer a reading from my WIP... which would probably be a birth scene... I don't drink alcohol, but make my own kombucha;) And I'm just as happy to spend time writing... Let's just say I'm easily pleased!

H Milli, well done for getting on top of this before Thursday actually rolls around. I had missed your message about this - sorry. Also, I am now going to Scottish Country Dancing on Thursday evenings… which means I can only stay for about an hour. If you go ahead with the salon idea, this wouldn’t be festive, but I could share my translation of the first thousand or so words of Olivia’s book? I’m afraid I know nothing about the birth crisis so I don’t have any opinion on that. Or just drinks would be fine also. I don’t mind really!

Hi Jane, yes it would be brilliant to hear about Olivia's book! 1000 words would probably be the upper limit, because it would be nice to hear you talk a little about it too? And about your work? xx

Hello Milli

Am sorry that I haven’t responded before . Would be v happy with any of those suggested formats…

If people would like the Salon format I could maybe contribute one of the following:

A ‘secret ‘place near my home which had huge influence on Lewis Carroll when he was writing Alice in W. & how much fun looking at it ‘through his eyes ‘ has been .

A piece of Emily Dickinson poetry which has hugely influenced how I mentor teenagers

Some of the very , very many absolutely amazing inventions by and historical influence of women that I’ve uncovered whilst researching. Why these achievements seem to get deliberately buried but how empowering it is for young girls to learn of them .

Maybe everyone would just like an informal hour drink though ?

These all sound like wonderful ideas. I think I like the amazing inventions and historical influence of women the best though? Would it be ok to share some of these? xx

I'd be interested in discussing the 'birth crisis' with a drink. But very happy to listen along if it is a salon or anything else. Only thing is, tomorrow is my son's 13th birthday, so I'm not sure if I can attend. p.s. I can't believe you met Chris Martin other week!!

Ha ha well I didn't exactly MEET him, he breezed past me and my glasses fell off, what can I say, I'm sure he's still talking about it. 😆

Oh Milli! I am the disorganised one that just didn’t get round to letting you know what I’d share. If a salon, I’d probably read a section of my work-in-progress fiction. I’d love a salon because I love hearing other people’s creative thoughts and outputs - but if not enough people are sharing, then any of the other options works for me. In any case, I will charge my glass with trusty Ginger Switchel🍹xx
