You’re right that it’s sometimes not believed…the other thing I have seen is ppl taking ‘erasure’ so literally, they think we mean women will literally cease to exist & evaporate or something. The ‘erasure’ is of the notion of ‘women’ as a sex. That is a real erasure, but obv materially we remain unevaporated 🙄
Your work is so important!! It all starts with language. The Stroop Test for the word woman in operation. Conflating the words gender and sex has been so damaging for example. We must stop the erasure of women in language and in law! Keep up the good work!! Thank you !
However recently the comms department changed some language Around breast feeding to remove the word mother so maybe the midwifery department have no input in this Australian birthing unit
I’ve supported many water births since 1996 . I’ve had dads in the pool and I’ve had to do some emergency evacuations as well as yearly moving and handling updates including practice evacuations with colleagues but only ever for women and mothers . Why oh why are they writing this ?

It's hard to understand. Even if they wanted to be 'inclusive' it's no excuse for removing 'woman' entirely?

I’ve come across forms that offer ‘gender’ when they show ‘sex’ and I now tick ‘prefer not to say’ if I have that option.
