I didn't think there could be a term more intrinsically revolting than "chestfeeding" but "bodyfeeding" manages it.

It really is quite hideous isn't it. The idea that some people actively want it to be used makes me extremely skeptical. I would like to meet those people in real life! Not sure they exist!

I’m not convinced anyone likes these awful terms a such an insult to the women who sweat blood and tears trying to breastfeed their babies in a culture of nil support!!! Makes me so angry.

Women require acknowledgment and respect for our exclusive burden of growing and nurturing babies. Sharing the words we earn through our labour of pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding with men is grossly disrespectful. No man has earned the right to those words and any woman who is or has been pregnant has.

Society doesn’t pay us, they don’t look after us, the very least they could do is honour us with language and now they can’t even manage that.

Isn’t it time we started saying No?

Funny how the only time that LLL manages to find the words mother and women are when they are soliciting funds from the general public. It's almost as if they know that Jane and Joe Public are not on board with erasing these words. https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/la-leche-league-eliminates-mothers.

And because they deliberately don't do exit polls for retiring Leaders and also resist any sort of surveys that might inform their practice around supporting "everyone" to breastfeed (because to even ask is "transphobic" you know), they have no stats to back up their claims that legions of non-mother type lactating people would flee in horror from the mother-to-mother support that LLL became famous for.

Maybe we should start asking LLL why they felt entitled to insult women by removing our titles and pretending that it is not us that does the work of breastfeeding. Might it be because LGBTQ+ lobbyists told them to? And what right did the LGBTQ+ lobby have to do that? These words and functions were never theirs to either give away or appropraite.

"Dear LLL: All words pertaining to pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding belong to women and we are reclaiming them. Please take note and communicate appropraitely when describing functions that only adult females (AKA women when referring to humans) can do. Yours sincerely, Mothers"

I was a LLL leader for many years before becoming a midwife… I’m really amazed how they became captured - how was it even possible? Anyway the American Womanly Art of Breastfeeding was anglicised by LLLGB and we called it The Art of Breastfeeding way back in the 80s… At least it features actual female anatomy…

What a horrible term " "body feeding" is and it conjures up all sorts of images in one's head !!. These virtue signalling numpties are such cowards ,throwing female language in the bin as a result. WOMEN are ADULT HUMAN FEMALES and we shall continue to say it loudly ,shouting it from the rooftops if necessary. Biology and reality can't be erased so easily. Thanks ,Milli x
