I’m disturbed too about this obvious link between sexual behaviour & helping with breastfeeding.
It’s worth noting that when I last looked, the qualifications for being a lactation consultant involve quite a lot of technical knowledge (tested by an exam) but there’s no observation or assessment of ‘consulting’ in action ie any judgment on the competence of the consultant interacting with mothers (or anyone else). So an IBCLC’s skills or behaviour in this area could be null, or harmful, or sexually focussed….and that wouldn’t matter. So it’s not a surprise that someone with an interest in lactation & kink finds this opportunity because this interest will not be challenged.
I was so shocked to read about Emma Pickett and her book for girls about puberty that so casually mentions double mastectomy for children. Thankfully there are many 1 star reviews on Amazon giving potential purchasers the heads up on this.
I started listening to the podcast and again, I'm just so shocked. The casual way in which they are discussing other parents and partners breastfeeding the baby as if Mother Nature didn't already have it all organised properly in the first place!? And then the very casual conversation about illegally obtaining domperidone in the USA to induce lactation. Absolute insanity.
Looking more into this Jacob Engelsman, I’ve been trying to read his articles, but struggling to do so without paying exorbitant amounts! I watched this painful video on Instagram about how a non-lactating parent can support a lactating parent. He suggested keeping track of dirty nappies (likely to be a struggle once paternity leave is over), keeping the sofa tidy and providing bottled water and snack bars. He talked about being the first one up at night to “check the baby isn’t hungry”, but said that feeding cues were “difficult to describe”. 😱
Nothing about supporting your partner with their feeding goals, other ways to bond with the baby, avoiding pushing formula as a bonding tool, potential systemic issues like societal sexualisation of breasts and how this can undermine feeding… It very much seemed to centre non-lactating partners (read: men).
He also confided that he got his IBCLC status during the pandemic and hasn’t done any 1:1 consultation apart from his mandatory clinical hours. This man is not an expert, he just wants the post-nominals of one.
WTF I exclaimed outloud to my dog as I got to ‘inducing lactation for kinksters’ 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I find myself talking to the dog a lot. Sometimes also to the hoover 😬
Why would Emma picket entertain this man : mind blown .
All about minimising mum and baby bond as usual .
A woman is a person but a man is a woman . Totally bizarre .
That's the kicker isn't it, when you see woman being used so liberally for men 🙄

It's so worrying but also what is stopping alarm bells ringing for people like Pickett?
It’s just creepy and getting creepier.
This is just insane!!
I feel insane sometimes doing it!
“Pregnant person” is SO stupid. I’m too old for this.
The Cleveland Clinic doesn't make it easy to contact them to suggest corrections.
Thanks for trying!
